The market woman who were traveling on Friday alongside their Leader were abducted by hoodlums in Akure.
It was reported that On Friday 6th of November 2020, a group of market women traveling from Isu Akoko in Akoko South East local government area of Ondo State. numbering 16 were kidnapped by hoodlums on there way to attend a meeting.
The hoodlums who Abducted the 16 women, alongside their leader the Iya-Oloja of Isu-Akoko Chief Mrs Helen Edward. Demanded for 11 million naira as at Friday, but due to the inability of the relatives to pay. they have reduced the sum to 5 million Naira. and are asking the relative to pay or the life of those being abducted would be in danger.
According to police report, 16 people were kidnapped by the hoodlums. while the operatives of the state police command, rescued 10 of the victims. Four of the hoodlums were arrested during a search party organized by the security operatives.
The family of the market women have raised the alarm that the women were still been held by the kidnappers who has continued to negotiate with them. They are calling on the Ondo state government to help them save the lives of the women who were abducted.
